Attorney General Chris Koster held a press conference in Jefferson City this morning to announce charges against Audrain County resident Cathy Gieseker.
Koster accusing Gieseker of essentially running a Ponzi scheme that defrauded millions from Mid-Missouri farmers. According to Koster's office, Gieseker routinely promised farmers she could sell grain higher than the going rate. In most cases though, Koster said, Gieseker sold the grain at the going rate and then did not pay the farmer.
Koster charged Gieseker with 12 different levels of felonies, including stealing by deceit and making false financial statements to the Department of Agriculture.
