Efforts to implement Gov. Jay Nixon's Medicaid expansion failed last night, a move not totally unexpected given Republican opposition to the plan. Nixon's proposal to also allow families to enter into the SCHIP program without paying premiums also failed to get traction.
But that didn't stop lawmakers from getting into heated exchanges over the issue. A notable one occurred between state Reps. Rob Schaaf, R-St. Joseph, and Kiki Curls, D-Kansas City.
